The usual sequence
In broad terms: you receive an admission letter from a recognised institution, the institution or the relevant education authority issues the supporting documentation, and you then apply for the student visa. Many students enter on a tourist visa and convert, but this is not universal and should never be assumed.
Documents commonly involved
The exact list is set by the authorities. It commonly includes:
- A passport valid well beyond the intended period of study
- The admission or enrolment letter from the institution
- Supporting approval documentation issued through the institution
- Evidence of the ability to meet tuition and living costs
- Completed application forms and photographs to specification
Renewal and conditions
Student visas are typically issued for a limited period and renewed while you remain enrolled. Conditions attached to a student visa — including any restriction on employment — are set by the authorities and must be followed.
Where to get authoritative answers
Your institution's international office is the correct first point of contact, because it handles this process every intake. For rules themselves, use the Department of Immigration or a Nepali diplomatic mission in your country. We can help you prepare, but we cannot grant or guarantee a visa.
