Before you fly
Confirm the essentials while you still have time to fix problems.
- Passport, visa documentation and admission letter, plus paper copies
- Health insurance documents and any prescriptions
- Airport pickup or a pre-booked first night's accommodation
- Enough local currency or a working card for the first days
First week
Prioritise the things that unlock everything else.
- Report to your institution's international office and complete registration
- Obtain a local SIM and mobile data
- Confirm or arrange longer-term accommodation
- Begin the bank account process, with your enrolment letter
- Locate the nearest hospital and your campus health service
Second week
Move from logistics to settling in.
- Attend orientation and meet your academic adviser
- Work out your route and travel time to campus
- Join a student society or an international student group
- Save emergency contacts, including your diplomatic mission
